This is a recipe that I am asked for time and time again and I will share it with you for this DIY project. I have decked this delicious chow out for gifting to a special someone. Of course, you will want to save some for yourself. Warning, don’t give to your real puppies or they will NEVER eat real puppy chow again! Besides they are not supposed to have chocolate. I’m so glad I’m not a dog, as life without chocolate just may not be worth living.
Gift Packaging Materials
We have used:
1 11” Puppy Pals Cello Bag (B08
C4BPUP)
1 4” White Twist Tie (B08 PTW4)
1 yd 7/8” Chocolate Brown Simply Sheer Organza Ribbon (B08 72315CH)
Add 5 cups of Puppy Chow into your cello bag. We have chosen the Puppy Pals cellophane bag to play up the name of this yummy snack, but go ahead and choose a bag that goes with your theme, occasion or holiday. We have also used a tall bag to allow for a showy plume of our printed cello above our Sheer Chocolate Brown Organza ribbon.
Puppy Chow Recipe
Step 1 Zap in microwave until melted
1 cup creamy peanut butter
½ cup butter or margarine
8 oz chocolate chips
Step 2 Empty a 12 oz box of Crispix Cereal into a large bowl. Pour mixture from
Step 1 over top of the cereal and mix together until cereal is evenly coated.
Step 3 Put about 2 cups of confectioners sugar (icing sugar) in the bottom of a
paper grocery bag. Drop your cereal mixture into the paper grocery bag and
Approximately 2 cups more of sugar. Note: you can easily adjust the amount
of sugar to suit your taste.
Step 4 Roll top of bag closed and take it outside (the dust from the sugar gets
everywhere). Shake up the mixture in the grocery bag until the cereal is
coated with the sugar.
Step 5 Dump the Puppy Chow into single layer on waxed paper. Break apart the big
chunks and leave out to cool. Then package up in your choice of any of our
great looking cello bags.
I have noted on my recipe card that this can be frozen, but to be honest with you it has never lasted long enough for me test that out. Enjoy…Sandra
