Candy Guide

by Sandra Fields

from www.ribbonsandfavors.com

We have put together a measurement guide using many of the common candy fillers. When trying to economize use a larger candy such as Fruit Slices or Saltwater Taffy when filling your bags and boxes. If you are using a small candy filler, such as Gourmet Jelly Beans or M & M’s, choose a small size box or bag. Whatever your edible filler is choose your container to accommodate your budget, theme and fill. Your guests or gift recipients will always feels like you really cared when their favor or small gift of an edible treat is full to the brim.

Another trick is to use a bed of shred, tissue or cellophane inside your favor box or bag. Not only will this carry through with your theme colors but, it will also take up space and lift your edible filler to the top. Any of these liners also act as a cushion to protect more fragile products.

When your candy filler matches the colors of your event use a nice clear or frosted box or bag for a great pulled together look. If your edible filler doesn’t match your color scheme choose from one of the many solid colored packaging products we carry that will coordinate with your colors. Still a great look!

If your container is not listed as FDA approved for direct food contact, play it safe and line your bag or box with cello. Although not as attractive as cellophane, another alternative is to use household wax paper available at your local grocery store. The wax paper works well if you are packaging a large breakfast cookie, muffin, bar cookie or donut in a solid color bag. If you are using a commercially wrapped candy such as Hershey’s Kisses or Rolo’s you don’t need to worry about FDA approved products or using a food safe liner.

Cupcake liners, candy cups, cello bags and candy liner pads make attractive FDA approved barriers as well.
