#1 Bathroom Baskets by Sandra Fields

 from www.ribbonsandfavors.com

You have your event planned and you want your guests to be comfortable so, of course, you put together a great Bathroom Basket for the unexpected little things. It doesn’t necessarily have to be big to be great! It only needs to be large enough to place all the items that you will display in them for the use of your guests, and not all your guests will need everything that you provide in your Bathroom Basket. As mentioned, by those who mention these things, Great-Aunt Mabel’s all over the world like to take these great baskets home. So save that great basket that you desperately wanted to keep, or keep your heirloom silver container at home where it is safe. Then…if your Bathroom Basket disappears or, you forget to remove it from the venue site when you leave, it’s not a big deal, someone may have got a great box but at least it didn’t empty your pocket book. Be sure to add a hang tag so that your guests know that it’s okay for them use products from it.

We have used:

B09 HTBS Houndstooth Basket Box ……. 7 x 4 x 5

- But, you can choose from many boxes to coordinate with your colors, or how about the First Aid box – doesn’t it say it all!

B08 72315BK 1 yd Simply Sheer Black Organza Ribbon ….. 7/8”

- This ribbon is not only decorative but helps your “Note to Guests” stay put.

B08 72301BK 1 yd Petite Simply Sheer Black Organza Ribbon ….1/4”

- Note: we have tied our nail clippers to a length of ribbon so they will stay in plain view and be less likely to accidentally slip into someone’s pocket or fall to the floor.

B08 ZF08BK A handful of Black Crinkle Cut Paper Shred

- Although this usually isn’t noticed at first glance it does help lift the contents up to make them easier to see and remove. One 8oz package of shred will do multiple boxes.

B08 T1SBK 1 sheet of Black Non-Woven Tissue Paper

Other items: Polka dot scrapbook paper, white cardstock, large gold brad and glue purchased from the local scrapbook, craft or office supply store for the hang tag.

This basic Bathroom Basket contains the essentials that you would want to include in your Ladies Bathroom Basket:

  • nail clipper
  • nail files
  • clear nail polish
  • Tide-to-go stick
  • safety pins
  • body lotion
  • Listerine pocket packs
  • lint roller
  • tampons
  • panty liners
  • hand sanitizer
  • Tums
  • band aids
  • lint roller
  • double stick tape
  • dental floss
  • hairspray, Q-tips and Tylenol.

We made one trip to our local Mart type store and purchased all our filler items in the travel size, or smallest size available.

For a basic Gents Bathroom Basket include:

  • nail clipper
  • Tide-to-go stick
  • safety pins
  • unscented body lotion
  • Listerine pocket packs
  • lint roller
  • hand sanitizer
  • Tums
  • band aids
  • lint roller
  • double stick tape
  • dental floss
  • hair gel and Tylenol.

Instructions:

Open up the basket box which comes to you flattened, line it with tissue paper, add a good handful of shred to the bottom of the box and start adding your filler items. It is always nice to put the feminine products discreetly at the back of the box.

Punch a small hole on the right hand side of the box near the top edge and secure one end of the ¼” organza ribbon through the hole, secure the nail clippers to the other end of the ¼” ribbon. Securing the nail clippers to ribbon allows guests plenty of ribbon length to use the clippers and yet they won’t get lost in the bottom of the Bathroom Basket.

Tie one or two bands of 7/8” organza ribbon around the outside of the box. Tie off in a simple knot and fishtail the each end of the ribbon. Adjust the knot towards the left side on the front of the basket box.

Attach your note to the front of the box with a brass brad so your guests know that they are welcome to use what they need. Your beautiful and economical Bathroom Basket Box is done.

Verse used on our hang tag:

Just to help you feel your best.
Use a little to keep you fresh.
Then leave all the rest

For our other guests!
Compliments of the newlyweds
(you may want to use your names instead of “newlyweds”)

These can be made up many weeks in advance. It is a good idea to arrange for someone to set-up and remove the Bathroom Baskets on the date of your function. Keep in mind you may need someone to access both the male and female restrooms while others are using them.
